Will your bathroom have a window?

Not all basement rooms have a window. A window helps in preventing humidity in a basement bathroom, but you can still proceed with a bathroom conversion in a windowless basement. In this case, a powerful ventilation system will be required to prevent mould.

From a rain shower to a large bath, a connecting sauna or bidet, there are countless options. The washbasin does not necessarily need to be in the basement bathroom itself. If there is a laundry room next door, guests can wash their hands there instead.
If you have a sauna in the basement, a shower is useful when you want to cool down afterwards. A spacious rain shower will feel even more relaxing.
If the bathroom is located below the rest of the wastewater system, you will need a wastewater lifting unit to pump wastewater upwards for disposal. Take note that this will come at an additional cost.

Tip:

Appropriate insulation is important for a basement bathroom. If your basement bathroom lacks external insulation, you will need to insulate your basement from the inside. But don’t worry, you won’t have to demolish any concrete for this!
